This publication design project is a fictional story about a lonely man in the red and white house in Socotra Island. The most ‘alien looking island on earth”, also one of the most isolated places to exist. I challenged myself to design this book with a limited colour palette, bold colours, and illustrative graphics.

A closer look at the 10 illustrations done for the book.
The goal of the illustrations was to create 'sketchy'-looking images that were highly detailed yet colorless, allowing them to become focal points in certain spreads. I wanted the sharpness of the line work to complement the bold display typeface.
Binding the book together
The binding was an extremely crucial consideration during the design process. Since many of my spreads featured type and illustrations extending across the gutter, lay-flat binding was the only way to preserve the design while ensuring a better reading experience.
